*Please note:  there are no standards so all sizes below 1/2 are approximations.

*1/16 This violin is designed for children up to about 5 years old 14 - 15 3/8 inches
*1/10 This is also for very young musicians 15 3/8 - 17 inches
*1/8 Usually for musicians under 10 years old. 17.1 - 17.5 inches
*1/4 Still designed for the young violinist. 17.6 - 20 inches
1/2 This size is still suitable for a child. 20 - 22 inches
3/4 This is for a child or a small, short-armed adult. 22 - 23.5 inches
4/4 This is a full sized violin. 23.5 inches and up ...
